Why The Garden Exists

Most group practices run on a profit-first mindset: how many clients can you see, and how little can they pay you for doing the actual work. I tried that model. It's not the values I want to cultivate in this community, or the energy I want to create.

In my years working in large mental health centers and in fully private practice, I've seen a real need for community among professionals in this field — for genuine consultation, real professional development, and referrals we can actually stand behind. That's what led me to shift from a revenue-split model to a flat-rate professional membership — a place that grows with you, not off of you.

When you join The Garden, the clients you receive are 100% yours — no middleman. We focus on providing professional support through consultation, comradery, and sharing referrals with colleagues we know and trust, rooted in work we believe in.

We are always looking to welcome in new members. Some of our current specialties include relationship issues, trauma (EMDR, IFS), parenting, divorce and life transitions, sexuality and LGBTQIA+ affirming care, existentialism and identity, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Why It Makes Sense Financially

A flat rate is exactly that — flat. As you take on more referrals and grow your caseload, your cost to the group stays the same, and you keep everything you earn beyond the membership fee. Clinicians carrying a small caseload in a group practice— a few sessions a week — can expect to increase their annual take-home by roughly 9%, based on the actual 12-month billing history of clinicians currently in the group. Full-time clinicians coming from a group practice with a percentage split model, could see an increase of 60% or more — a difference of over $32,000 a year on a full caseload.

That gap exists because, under a percentage split, money is never captured as income at all — it's revenue you simply never received. A flat-rate membership, by contrast, is a straightforward, tax-deductible professional business expense, the same category as consultation, community, or continuing education you'd likely already be paying for.
