Laura Harter
Laura is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) specializing in life transitions, women’s health, parenting, trauma (EMDR, IFS), imposter syndrome and identity formation, therapy for therapists
I have been practicing as a therapist since graduating from my Master's of Social Work program at the University of Kansas in 2011. My background as a social worker and therapist has spanned from public health to end of life care and has now landed me quite happily as an outpatient therapist for adults. I am often described by the people I work with as warm yet direct, slightly woo, heart led and intuitive, descriptors that I am honored to embody! Clients who tend to work best with me are people navigating transitions and seeking an active guide and support, working on learning and honoring their needs, and creating new spaces and paths for themselves. I do this work through a combination of treatment modalities including dialectical behavior therapy, person centered therapy, somatic techniques, and trauma therapy modalities including EMDR and parts work. I have special interest in the LGBTQIA+ community, being a “therapist for therapists”, and supporting those in childbearing years around conception, fertility challenges, loss, and transitioning into parenting.
Outside of my life’s work as a therapist, being a partner and a parent are my most fun and fulfilling roles. I’m also a voracious reader, a gardener and a cook. I love to hike, keep intending to camp more, and go to bed every night looking forward to my morning coffee. Building relationships and nurturing the people I care for and care about is my most beloved task in life!
