Heather Gilbert

Heather is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) specializing in relationship patterns, identity development, and life transitions. She works with adults and couples throughout Colorado.

Have you spent years being the one who understands, accommodates, and keeps relationships together, only to realize you've lost touch with yourself along the way? Perhaps you find yourself feeling responsible for everyone else's emotions, struggling to identify your own needs, or wondering why the harder you try, the less your relationships seem to improve.

I specialize in working with adults and couples who feel stuck in relationship patterns that have become exhausting or unsustainable. Many of the people I work with have learned to maintain connection by taking responsibility for others, putting their own needs aside, or overfunctioning in relationships. Together, we'll explore how these ways of relating developed, why they once made sense, and how you can build a stronger sense of self while remaining deeply connected to the people who matter most.

My work is collaborative, evidence-based, and trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on personal growth, self-awareness, and the ways we continue to develop throughout life. Rather than focusing only on symptom relief, I help clients better understand themselves, recognize patterns that no longer serve them, and develop greater freedom to make choices that align with their values, relationships, and the life they want to create.

Whether you're navigating relationship difficulties, anxiety, grief, life transitions, perfectionism, or emotional exhaustion, I offer an outside perspective that can help you see what has been difficult to see on your own. My goal is to help you develop greater self-trust, agency, and congruency so you can remain connected to others without losing yourself in the process.

Outside of my clinical work, I am actively involved in research and have a longstanding interest in developmental psychology, philosophy, and the ways people continue to grow throughout adulthood. I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors, and am continually fascinated by the lifelong process of becoming more fully ourselves.
